Anne Chevalier McKechnie

PhD, RN

Dr. Anne Chevalier McKechnie is an Associate Professor and Chair of Child and Family Health in the School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities (USA). Her research area is focused on supporting families as they are preparing and caring for vulnerable infants. She has experience using intervention science methods, including a person-based approach to developing digital health interventions. She has led the development and testing of the Preparing Heart and MindTM as a digital health care program. The goal of this care program is to support parents' mental health and caregiving following prenatal or postnatal diagnosis of infant critical congenital heart disease.

Kristin Elgersma

PhD, DM, MN, RN

Dr. Kristin Elgersma is an Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota and a parent of a child born with critical congenital heart disease (CHD). Dr. Elgersma holds previous masters and doctoral degrees in piano performance from Northwestern University; however, her experience with her child inspired her to change careers, and she received her MN and PhD from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. Her research now focuses on feeding for infants with CHD, with a particular interest in human milk and direct breastfeeding as a means of optimizing infant health and providing family-centered, developmental care.
